Getting started with R
You read and write simple R code, calculate with vectors and the columns of a table, deal with missing values and chain steps with the pipe.
Part 1: Calculating and names
Part 2: Vectors and data types
About this path
This path takes you in small lessons from the first calculation to a table you query with the pipe. Each lesson covers one thing and takes about ten minutes. Every code box is a small editor in which R runs right in your browser; there is nothing to install.
The first part shows R as a calculator, with names for values and with
functions. The second introduces vectors, the basic form of all data in R,
with their types, with comparisons and with missing values; at its start,
the slides use the game with three doors to
show the way from a vector to a data frame in one go. The third brings
everything together in a table and ends with the pipe, on which data
transformation with dplyr builds. Each of the first two parts is followed by
an exercise, the third by a quiz. If you want to continue on your own
computer afterwards, Positron is the right environment.
